Adriana is a writer, speaker, and teacher of Creative Tantra.
She is the author of A Holy Nothingness: Writing Towards God and the founder of Creation Meditation
A little while back I did some online writing meditation work with Adriana and have to tell you she is a special and inspiring lady who knows a thing or two about living true to yourself.
It is with pleasure that I pronounce her: Reader of the Week!
Who is Adriana Attento?
I am a spiritual explorer. I love the journey of bringing attention inward and discovering the richness there, deepening the connection with myself, and forever seeing something new inside.
The inner experience feels so soulful, so rich, and so beautiful.
(Interestingly, Adriana means “dark and rich” in Greek.)
When I shift my attention inward I connect with a deep part of myself.
I love the inner world and finding out how its affecting and creating my outer one. I also love to write, not so much to produce anything like a story or a poem, but more to use writing as a form of self-inquiry.
Where do you live and why do you love it?
Living on the Big Island of Hawaii is one of the most beautiful experiences of my life.
I love the spiritual depth here, the flowers, the active volcano, and the aloha spirit that lives on among the people. This is as close to living with heart as one could get. It is my spiritual home.
What do you know now that you wish you knew when you were younger?
Back then, I wish I knew how to love myself more. I wish I would have said, “Adriana, you are beautiful, you are amazing, you are well loved.”
Deepening self-love is an ongoing journey, although if I knew it earlier, I would have made different choices.
How do you keep your ‘grass green’?
I take really good care of myself. I eat well, do yoga, meditate, and keep the thoughts about myself loving and compassionate. I also offer love and compassion and joy to others when I can.
Oh, and I treat my body to things like a massage, a manicure, time in the sauna, and hugs.
What makes you laugh the most?
I tend to laugh the most when I am with others.
I love connecting with others through the heart, through joy, and through excitement.
I’m not one to watch comedies or laugh at the expense of others, even if it’s in a movie.
What are your fave places to visit online?
I really enjoy spiritual sites – anything that is adding to my understanding of consciousness. I recently stumbled upon a site from a guy who has had some remarkable experiences and shares them on his blog – check out Awake in the Dream.
If your life was a movie , what would your theme song be?
“Row, row, row your boat gently down the stream. Merrily, merrily, merrily, merrily life is but a dream.”
I am learning how to stay mindful of my inner world so that the dream of my outer world is exactly what I want it to be.
Finish this sentence…… What the world needs now is……change.
Carl Jung once said, “The masses don’t change unless the individual changes.”
The world needs each of us to go within and uncover our darkness so that as a result we can bring what is blocking us to the surface, let it go, and then let the fullness of our light shine.
I believe that is what is going to help shift this planet!
