It’s a nice time of year to reflect, to look back on the year that was and do a quick analysis.
The highlights, the lowlights, the lessons, the teachers, the shocks, tragedies and triumphs. Yep, 2010 has delivered a lot.
It has been one of my most jampacked years ever.
From Sharnanigans headquarters, I’d like to share with you the events that rocked my world for good or for sad in the year that was.
1. Sex and The Country Photoshoot AMAZING. I have said so much about this weekend already but loved meeting new friends and being creative and crazy together!
2. Having my blog and website chosen by the National Library of Australia to be archived
3. Learning so many valuable life lessons from my son – including this one, +Â this one Oh and all of the Monte-isms- view all 103 of them here!
4. Enjoying great friendships with other writers who contribute to my blog and my life in so many fantastic ways! Great examples here, here, here , here and here and here!
5. Trip to Sydney for my Aunt’s birthday party and catching up with old friends
6. Having a great weekend away with Cowboy’s family in Tumbarumba
7. Taking up running and learning about the Afghan Women’s Writing Project
8. Having a run in with depression but making it to the other side!
9. Cowboy taking part in my Sharnanigans
10. Losing three friends in tragic ways :-( here, here and here.
11. Writing about Blogging Without Integrity and learning a lot about life and social media right there and then. Blew my hat off the response to this article! Check it out!
Lessons:
1. You never know what you are capable of until you JUST DO IT
2. There is nothing more behind the shed door
3. Staying in the present is your ticket to freedom. Staying in the present is the best way not to get overwhelmed by the task ahead. One foot in front of the other.
4. There are a lot of kind people in the world. The media gives the world a bad wrap, get out there and discover for yourself, a lot of people want to genuinely do good.
5. I feel great about myself and my body for what it can do and how it makes me feel and no longer because I feel I have to measure up to anything! (ahhhh freeeeedom!)
6. Having a son has made me try harder to be the best version of myself I can be.
7. Some days are diamonds, some days are crap. Treat the diamonds and the crap with the same acceptance.
8. You cannot please all the people all of the time. Everyone you meet has their own battle they are facing, remember this.
9. You can tell the insurance company you do not want flood cover in your insurance confidently because the OHT is in drought and then ONE month later floods arrive. EXPECT the unexpected.
10. The grass isn’t greener on the other side, it’s greener where you water it.
Thanks to all my readers and friends and family who make putting together this website so enjoyable for me.
Since starting Sharnanigans I have been a happier version of me, I am truly motivated and inspired because of this- I love it- and I love all the people I have met and continue to meet through it.
This website is taking me on personal journeys I once would not have dreamed were possible.
Because of this website and the positive interactions I have with amazing people I now dream anything is possible.
Thank-you.
I hope that 2010 has been a great year for you and that even if it hasn’t, that you can learn from the mistakes of it, grieve over the tragedies of it, and come back to the present moment… I hope you are having a great moment right now and that your life has many more valuable moments.

Congrats, Sharni, has been great to meet and connect with you in bloggie land. x
yes you too Nikki and thanks again for helping me with one of my years standouts! x
Thanks for your writing, your committment and your fun and genuineness. My take home message from 2010 Sharnanigans was what you wrote after an epic comments ‘discussion’ (and I quote)
“Now, the world don’t move to the beat of just one drum,
What might be right for you, may not be right for some.
A man is born, he’s a man of means.
Then along come two, they got nothing but their jeans.
But they got, Diff’rent Strokes.
It takes, Diff’rent Strokes.
It takes, Diff’rent Strokes to move the world.
Everybody’s got a special kind of story
Everybody finds a way to shine,
It don’t matter that you got not alot
So what,
They’ll have theirs, and you’ll have yours, and I’ll have mine.
And together we’ll be fine….
Because it takes, Diff’rent Strokes to move the world.
Yes it does.
It takes, Diff’rent Strokes to move the world.
RIP Gary Coleman
RIP Thea’s subscription
RIP Comments to Blogging Without Integrity – thanks for all who took part in this animated discussion.”
It was brilliant to see you handle a difficult situation with such wisdom and good humour.
Cheers Sharni
