It is the 15th of December. 3km has been achieved, must be 3 or 4 weeks until the big day.
There is a great feeling surrounding my quest.
I jumped on Twitter today and was so touched to see tweets by Melinda Tankard Reist and Melissa Hoyer floating around, unprompted by me! That is so nice after all the hardcore pestering I have done!
Then I saw others had retweeted.
Each with, you know, 6000 followers each. Word of mouth, and word of tweet = amazing.
A friend from school who I haven’t seen for at least 16 years contacted me on Twitter and said “The way things are going you’ll be trending on Twitter soon!”
I had to laugh. He then pledged $50.
The local newspaper hit the stands today, and the story was there. As I frolicked up the street (Ok walked) locals commenced the banter about my run.
I am feeling the buzz, the adrenaline. The official count is $2250. I have at least $10,o00 in my sights. How? I am not sure but I have faith in humans, I really do.
Did you know:
A gift of $50 will provide Internet access for one writer.
# $100 pays for a month’s worth of printing supplies.
# $500 can ensure that the Women’s Writing Hut stays open for a month.
# $1,000 buys a laptop for an Afghan woman writer
You can pledge your support below and I’ll chase you up in January.
And you know what, as I hit the road every day through the hoppers out to Cemetery bend I realise every day is a winding road….
Won’t you come with me for the ride?
