OK Here Is Your Script (do you want blood?!)

Today is Get A Friend To Pledge Day

Maybe daunting? Here, I make it easy for you. Here is a basic script. Grab your phone and dial your bestie. Let me know how you get on!

Ring up one of your friends, talk festive season, floods, droughts, presents, new years resolutions.

Then…….. speaking of New Years Resolutions……

You: “Did I tell you what my friend in Hay is doing?”

Friend: “No”

You: “She couldn’t stick to an exercise program, so she decided to train for a few months to run 5kms – but here is the clincher – she is doing it to raise money for Women in Afghanistan!”

Friend: “Wow! Really?”

You: “Yep, she has even got celebs to sponsor her, like Wil Anderson, Jane Kennedy and Sarah Wilson”

Friend: “Where is the money going?”

You: “The money is going towards a Writing Hut where women in Kabul can gather and write their stories, which appear uncensored, anonymous on a website called the Afghan Women’s Writing Project. Some of the stories are really, really sad. Most of them actually. BUT in a country where women are treated terribly, it is SO important to give them this outlet for their stories to be told, by them, from them”

Friend: “That does sound important”

You: “Sharni is running 5kms on the 8th of January, she has $2675 pledged so far but needs a lot more. She wants to get laptops for the women. Would you be interested in pledging? Any small amount will do- you don’t have to pay until she has done it”

Friend: “Yes I can”

You: “You will be making a difference to a woman in Afghanistan. How great will that make you feel knowing that?”

Friend: “Pretty great”

You: “So how much will you pledge?”

Me: GOT IT? Easy.

Now go! Make me proud! If you can convert a friend you will go into a draw to win a fabo mystery prize
