These are my oldest friends.
Clearly not old as in old, but friends I have literally had forever.
Did you ever watch Stand By Me? One of my all time favorite movies.
One of the lines that stands out for me is at the end when he says:
“I never had any friends later on like the ones I had when I was 12 – Jesus, did you?”
It gives me shivers. It makes me grateful that the friends I had when I was 12 are still in my life. In fact, they are the same friends I had when I was 5, 21, 28 and now 32. Â The one on the far left? We were born 3 days apart and were side by side in the hospital in cots.
The one to my left, glowing in her hot pink — we are now in the same town, and it is so special to be hanging with her and our kids to be hanging with each other.
The one on my right —- has to be one of the most genuine people I have ever met.
There is one friend from our posse who is not in the picture (Sorry Kylie) – she is in Darwin and just as special. (Miss you buddy!)
We are all very different people, but there is an invisible bond that ties us all together.
We accept each other as we are.
We can make each other laugh like nobody else can.
We know tooooo much!!!
When we are all together, God help anyone around – - CACKLING CENTRAL!!!!
Yep, we have sooooooooo much history. But the even better part? We also have a present and a future.
I love them all dearly.
I received this photo today and just wanted to let them all know how much I treasure their friendship.
It made me a little sentimental but at the same time, it made me so grateful to have them in my life.
I feel like I need to end this blogpost with a funny sentence to take the edge off my ‘from the heartness.’
But you know what, I’m OK with writing a post from the heart because it is so important to let people in your life you love know it, don’t you think?
Have you told your friends how much you appreciate them lately?
