I recently blogged about Juliette from Little Acorn Books who asked me to review “Simplicity Parenting by Kim John Payne, M.Ed
I did so, in fact not only did I review the book, I’m living it!! Some of the ideas I have picked up from the book have been really beneficial to life in our household and I am very excited to be able to give away a copy to one reader.
The book is described:
Today’s busier, faster society is waging an undeclared war on childhood. With too much stuff, too many choices, and too little time, children can become anxious, have trouble with friends and school, or even be diagnosed with behavioral problems. Now internationally renowned family consultant Kim John Payne helps parents reclaim for their children the space and freedom that all kids need for their attention to deepen and their individuality to flourish.
Simplicity Parenting offers inspiration, ideas, and a blueprint for change:
To enter is easy, make sure you “like” Sharnanigans and Little Acorn Books on Facebook – then leave a comment below on what areas of Parenting you’d like to simplify.
Juliette will choose the winner on Friday!
Good luck!

Your toy cleanup was a timely reminder for me to sift through the once-one-now-five toy boxes to see what we can keep/donate/toss!! I’m ready to welcome some new play space!
It’s taken me till I reached Grandparenthood to get it and I’d love to be able to share the principles with my sons, their lovely wives and families before they get to the stage of life I am at! Love the sorts of books that you have at Little Acorn and already have some in my library :)
I would like to simplify the seperation anxiety and temper tantrums of parenting
Getting out of hand behaviour under control and meal times being simpler, no arguing over whats for tea and stubborn refusal to eat!
I would like to get more info on how to deal with those awkward situations when you are out and your kids are being cheeky and you really want to …….. !!! ESP 8yo girls going on 18.
Hhhmm, what areas of parenting would I like to simplify? Well, being a new parent of just 4 weeks I think I would like to start with simplicity thanks. Let’s just go the whole hog and say I would like all areas of parenting to be simple….maybe if I get in early I can avoid the toybox plastic overflow?
Sometimes I feel like we are on top of this parenting thing, other times hmmmm, not so much! I would love to be able to juggle a little better (metaphorically, but also literally would be fun!). Sometimes the squeaky wheel gets a lot of attention, and the others miss out because they behave beautifully and do what’s expected of them. This makes me sad, and it’s something I want to work on.
